Welcome to Museo ni Cipra
Welcome! The site's purpose is not a mere introduction to the artist and her art, it is so much more. It is about sharing and giving, and an opportunity for not yet established artists to showcase their artwork through the generosity of the Museo ni Cipra Foundation.
About the artist:
Not only is this spunky silvered-hair, 80 something year old woman an accomplished artist, she is also a dentist by profession, an architect who design homes as well as her own art galleries, a music composer and an excellent cook to boot.
There are many different styles of visual art. Cipra's art is best described in the book of 'isms' as Constructivism: ‘Constructivism’ in the more general sense describes abstract, geometric works of art which are constructed, or organized, from distinct components and contemporary materials, such as plastic, metal, glass and other industrial materials.
Her paintings have been described as colors weaving in and out like the intricate design of clothing woven by Filipino tribal ancestors and are reminiscent of ancient American Indian sand paintings. There are works that are quiet and others that have a punch. There's also a kind of naivete and unschooled talent displayed in Cipra's art.
To view Cipra Kamatoy's artworks, please visit Museo ni Cipra located in Alaminos, Laguna, or enjoy the gallery sections of the site.
The Project:
Not only is Cipra all of the above; she is a person with a heart and a big one at that. This site is not only about Cipra and her art, but it is also about the project this amazing woman has taken on. She founded the Museo ni Cipra Foundation in 2010 to help artists just starting to get a feel for their art. Museo ni Cipra 2 is in the final stages of construction in San Pablo City and is expected to have its grand opening in June/July of this year (2012). Please visit the Museo ni Cipra 2 category for more details about this exciting development.
Enjoy!
